Faro Best Beaches | Beach Guide
Faro does not have a beach of its own as such, but the wonderful sandy beaches of Ilha da Culatra, with its picturesque lighthouse and the wilder, uninhabited Ilha Deserta (Barreta) are just a short trip across the lagoon by ferry or private water taxi. These are great destinations, not just for sun worshippers but for birdwatching and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters. If you don’t fancy the boat ride, the Praia da Faro island is joined to the mainland by a bridge, making it accessible by bus or by car. Because it’s easier to access, this beach can get fairly crowded in peak summer season.
