Wonderful and relaxing place to visit, but a car is a requirement! Will definitely return to Ferragudo! The Benagil grotto and dolphin boat tour is a must! Visit: Sagres, Selema, Burgau, Tavira, Monchique. A delightful server at Algar Seco made several culture and dining recommendations, including O Charneco - definitely dine here, but an Uber might work better if you are going to drink or the narrow roads make you nervous!

Ferragudo is a little gem of a traditional fishing town.
Ferragudo is a little gem of a traditional fishing town.
Backstreets with family run cafes, restaurants, bars but nothing too over crowded.
The town square is the central hub day and night but quieter off street restaurants also available so best of both.
The beach is wide, clean and interesting to watch the fishing boats coming and going.

Ferragudo is a pretty fishing village on the Algave.
Ferragudo is a pretty fishing village on the Algave. It has 2 lovely beaches, the Praia Grande has a handful of bars and restaurants and sun loungers for hire but does not feel particularly crowded, its a great sandy beach for kids with safe, swimming water and pedalos for hire. The town has some lovely restaurants and is very pretty and typically Portuguese with winding streets and colourful houses. I would suggest its not ideal for parents with small children as there are a lot of steps which could be a challenge with a buggy.

Ferragudo has retained its charm as a fishing village, despite being a popular destination for tourists.
Views accross the bay are beautiful.
There are several good restaurants to choose from, including the quayside fish -grilling ones, in addition to the option of dining in at Vitor's Village.
There is a large and popular beach close to Ferragudo, (Praia Grande) in addition to smaller cove beaches a little further afield.
There's a cliff walk of about 7Km along to the (larger) village of Carvoiero, which takes around 3 hours and involves some "scrambling" ; like a lot of the local coastal walks it's good to do "one way" and arrange a lift back!

Nice little town as a destination for a morning walk to get a coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice. Lovely town square with good restaurants and friendly waitstaff. Small fresh fruit and vegetable market and fresh fish on the docks. Very nice large beach close to town and several smaller beaches close by. Challenging hiking paths were also close by. We used Ferragudo as our base while we explored all of the Algarve. Parking the car was a problem but that seems to be the case in all of Portugal.

Train station area is terrible, but hotel area is like a different world.
As busses are often late, you can cross the bridge on foot and after 2,5 km you are in Portimao, where is big Shopping center etc.
This is a lovely house, perfectly located to all amenities within Ferragudo. We can highly recommend it. The house is beautifully decorated with all you need for a stay. Jeanette the host has thought of everything and is available to make your stay the best for you. It is spotlessly clean. The little garden is lovely to eat outside which we were able to do even though it was January. Jeanette had informed us in advance of emergency works to the garden area but had made a very cosy space for us to minimise any inconvenience
What an absolute treasure of a stay! We could experience living in the village like locals, and relax in the beautiful garden. The thoughtful details {and customized air conditioning in each room} made this a wonderful space for our family of five + golden retriever. They even had dog bowls provided! Along with local wine and waters upon arrival. Kind + personable hosts. Restaurants and cafes all around. But yet, quiet in the best way. ✨
Very well kept, beautiful facilities, fantastic view.
The hosts treat you so well, kind of like how your parents treated you when home on break from university....before they realized you would be moving back into the basement after graduation. Can't recommend this place highly enough, only worry that all the positive reviews will make it harder to book in the future.
Perfect holiday apartment in fantastic location, few minutes walk from the beach, all amenities were available, and hosts went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable. It was really one of the best stays that I’ve done on Booking.com, and both me and my wife we give 5/5 stars. Everything was amazing. Thank you so much - we’ll be back! :-)
All good, plus to celebrate Valentines Day we wanted to have a little picnic and bottle of wine we bought (not from hotel) in our room. The staff were generous and flexible, provided plates etc, and even uncorked the wine for us! That sort of adaptability made it a very welcoming place to be.
Just book it!
I liked everything about the house!
The design, the location, the facilities, really everything
I recommend a thousand times this little house
Ferragudo is an amazing place as well and you have Portimão just 15min away
Plus, it was amazingly clean!!
We’ll come back 🤞🏼
You simply cannot fault this accommodation. Situated in an attractive, quiet location within walking distance to Ferragudo and local beaches, the townhouses are clean, spacious and have all the amenities you require. The staff are great. I would highly recommend to other families.
The staff were all very friendly, the accommodation was neat, the parking lot was only available after checking in and receiving the room key, and the way the hotel was accessed was very smart. It was good because it was so quiet around. The breakfast was also really delicious.
We had a fantastic stay at Vila Gaivota. It's spacious, clean and very close to the beautiful Caneiros beach. Miguel is a great host. He was really helpful and gave us a lot of tips about Algarve. Highly recommend this place. Muito obrigada!
Everything was perfect! The location, in the heart of Ferragudo with its charming little restaurants and its beautiful sunsets, the hygiene, the facilities and the communication with the hosts.
The location was perfect. 2 minute walk to the best beach with a great restaurant.
Breakfast by the pool was lovely with the friendliest most attentive staff.
