Our hosts were incredibly kind. The room has a wonderful terrace where you can see the sunset. Very close to the beach. The room was very quiet.

All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

We thought everybody had left town.
We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings.
Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

We are an elderly couple who have been to the area many times since 1975 and never tire of it. It has not suffered overdevelopment like many other resorts. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and laid back style . The surrounding area such as Ponte de Lima is superb so a car enhances the experience.

Esposende is a nice little town and a cool spot for kitesurfing. When I was there it was quiet and relaxing. I couldn't find amazing places for lunch or dinner actually, but some nice local patisseries instead. Having said that, there is some offer, just not to the level I was hoping. The coast is nice, the wind strong, people are nice too, and it is very close to other nice towns in the north of Portugal

Very nice place with nice sea and the special cakes from Fao. If you are in Esposende you have definitely to go to get some "Clarinhas de Fão". Fão is on the south bank of the river. You can find them in a very small "pastelaria".
Beautiful views from Axis Ofir. The accommodation was really great. I had ocean views from the entire guest suite, including the balcony and even the shower.
I had dinner in the restaurant and loved everything about it. Their cream of vegetable soup was very tasty. I had a salad and the pasta Primavera to finish out an extremely healthy, tasty dinner.
In the morning I went to the breakfast buffet and enjoyed the assorted offerings, especially the fresh pastries.
Great escape from walking the Caminho Portugués.
Indira and her father are super kind hosts. Indira even drove me to the bus terminal in Esposende on the day of my departure.
The hostel is quite new, located in a quiet area and comprises a garden where you can enjoy the meals.
The double room I booked was nice and clean, the bed comfortable.
The wonderful sand beach can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.
All in all a hostel I can really recommend Hostel do Alto Fao.
This is truly a great hostel.
It has the best of both worlds.
The comfort of a hotel and the friendliness of a hostel.
Plus there is a nice pool, a great beach with dunes, and a superb sea food festival right next door (the later takes place beginning of August)!
And last but not the least, the owner Sandra is very flexible (we had to shorten our stay and she agreed to the reimbursement).
Warm greeting at reception with useful information provided to us in English. Plenty of space in our apartment with a well equipped kitchen and large supermarket around the corner. Able to make a home cooked dinner after many nights of quick fix meals. Large dining/lounge area and our room also had it's own outdoor space to relax in overlooking a large garden.
We stayed at the charming oasis for 10 days, as part of our trip to Portugal, everything was wonderful, it felt like a home from home, lovely simple breakfast, attentive hosts and a great base to visit the north of Portugal. Massive love goes to Suki the dog and Cuckoo the cat who made the stay extra special.
We were maybe the only ones staying at the hotel as it was offseason. We ate an excellent meal at the restaurant across the street. Breakfast at our hotel was very good. Our hostess was delightful and explained a little about the family history. I loved staying here.
It's one of those funny "luxury" hotels with slightly cheesy decor but it works. The staff was very helpful. My dinner at the lounge was ok. It was raining so I didn't experience the pool but it looked nice. The break was big and good.
The host Sandra was so welcoming! She has created a space where pilgrims can gather and meet! Started creating a camino family here! There is facilities to do hand laundry and a small pool with seating area if the weather is nice!
The hostel is really clean. I was really impressed by it. The separate room is big and has very comfy beds. Would definitely go back if we stop in Esposende again.
