## The neighborhood The Estrela district was only created in 2012 through the merging of a number of smaller parishes and is a neighbourhood that manages to mix the old and the new, providing a fun and exciting place to stay and visit that also exudes a sense of history. The area is dominated by the nearly 250-year-old Basílica de Estrela church with its beautiful white façade and stunning dome. Also within the Estrela area is the brilliant Arte Antiga, which is without a doubt the most significant art museum in Portugal. You can wander around the beautiful galleries and see works by Bosch, Brueghel, Holbein, Raphael, van Dyck, Velázquez and many others. The Jardim da Estrela is a beautifully maintained garden and park area opposite the Basilica which is popular with families and young people and is the ideal spot to sit and relax for an afternoon, escaping the noise of the busy city. Occasionally, there are small music festivals held in the park called Brunch Electronik. When it comes to food, Senhor Vinho is well known not just as a restaurant that serves great food, but also perhaps as the very best Fado music venue in Lisbon.
