Had a great stay! Breakfast had good options with an exceptional view. The front desk staff was very welcoming and efficient despite having had technical issues the day of my arrival. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had pretty much everything I needed.

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal, charming Funchal is the capital of Madeira Island. It's an important base for tourists from all over the world that come to the Madeira hotels, B&B’s and resorts to enjoy their cliffs and beaches, as well as the island's slopes and colorful towns.
Founded in 1424, its location allowed it to quickly become an important trading harbor, attracting many prominent families. Its mild weather was the beginning of its touristic development in the 18th century, with a therapeutic and health profile.
With the establishment of the port first, and Madeira International/Funchal Airport later, the city grew to become a major destination. Nowadays, the city concentrates most of the hotels, luxury resorts and casinos on Madeira. Accommodations located in Santa Cruz, near Funchal Airport, are also available for those trying to avoid the rush.
Don’t miss a long walk around Sé historical district, and enjoy the Santa Clara Convent and the Sé Cathedral. The Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro Park and the Mercado dos Lavradores are also a must.

3-4 days is plenty.
3-4 days is plenty. There are surprisingly beautiful gardens & green spaces giving a break from all the noise & congestion. Beautiful flowers & trees blooming everywhere during the May Flower Festival. When multiple cruise ships are in port at once, it is packed. Driving & parking is a nightmare. Summer season must be a crowded mess. Some beautiful vistas, but few places to pull over & enjoy them. Very high fog shrouded mountains.
The tourist board proclaims that Madeira in general is the Hawaii of the Atlantic. Lots of Banana trees, some palms, some similar flowers, yes. The hiking is in the cold wet fog & the beaches can't compare.

A lovely place to visit for its scenery, cityscape, flora and food. Visits to the many gardens were so colourful, especially Monte via the cable car. Easy walking around the city with lots of shops and restaurants. The Flower Festival was colourful with parades, folk art and music, classic car parade and lots more to see. Several interesting art galleries and museums to visit as well.

The island offers tremendous variety that takes time to discover.
2 weeks would go by very quickly here. Renting a car almost essential as it allows you to visit sites away from. the organised bus trips, which would be good if you don't fancy driving and the inevitable route finding issues.

Madeira is a lovely island with many spectacular hikes and breathtaking views, but the city of Funchal was the least satisfying aspect of our visit. Driving in and out of the city, to and from our hotel, was stressful and confusing: roads are narrow and wind around blind curves, the locals drive very fast, and because parking is seemingly a free-for-all you spend a lot of time dodging parked cars and making room for other cars to go past you. The downtown businesses and restaurants have surrendered entirely to the crowds of tourists from the daily cruise ships, which dock in the middle of the central harbor. As a result, the staff at shops and eateries are thoroughly tired and unenthusiastic about their jobs. We plan to return to Madeira, but we will definitely pick another town to stay in.

Madeira is a wonderful location to visit.
Madeira is a wonderful location to visit. It feels incredibly safe and relaxed. We traveled in the Spring and it was a bit too cool to swim. I would absolutely return in the Summer. We had 2 nights but really 3-5 nights would have been better.
Our return flight got cancelled due to winds, which happens frequently, so plan accordingly by getting the insurance or make sure to have a buffer if you have a connecting flight from a different airline.
Hotel is new and very stylish, I would even prefer it to the neighbouring 5 star ones of the same hotel chain. Ocean suit has great ocean view even on a not high floor. Be careful if you travel not with a partner, as bathroom is not private. We definitely liked that the hotel has 2 swimming pools, one rooftop, with bar/cafe areas and possibility to order beer/milkshake to the pool, sun beds, towels, tents included. There is exit to ocean from one of the pools, but no sandy beech (Madeira actually has not many of them).
The location, on a small side street, gave us a feel for being in the "real" city. Our apartment had a large balcony looking over a park which had a lovely outdoor cafe. A very easy walk to everywhere one might want to go in Funchal. Easy access to transit and tours. Wonderful bakery and supermarket 5 minutes away. Everyone helpful and friendly. Authentic restaurants close by. Hotel 2 minute walk with a pool, deck and bar. They had a small bottle of Madeira wine waiting for us.
The Cliff Bay was welcoming and the staff really friendly. We had a lovely room on Floor 10 overlooking the harbour and Funchal.
We opted for b&b and the breakfasts had a good choice of continental breakfast and hot food as well as being able to select other items from the a la carte menu.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and of a classic Madeiran style with lots of wood panelling rather than being super modern.
The balcony was equipped with chairs and a table as well as sunloungers.
This is definitely a high end and more luxurious apartment. It is spacious and very comfortable for a family of four. you have your own parking space inside the garage, an elevator and terrific balcony with sea view. it’s simply an amazing way to spend your time on the island of Madeira. Its central location in Funchal is quite advantageous and a wonderful place to explore from. The host, Julia is very sweet, welcoming and friendly, and was always available when we had questions.
This is a well run hotel and you can tell this by and mostly the staff training and the genuine service! Very willing and helpfull on any request... even a couple of days after check out! Super quality facilities, ideally located in the middle of everything in Funchal, spacious rooms, suberb value for money. The free on-spot parking and the hip and trendy roof top pool bar were the icing on the cake! Higly reccomended. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else next time in Madeira.
I stayed with Luiz for thr first few days on Madeira and it was phenomenal. I loved the beautiful views from thr garden overlooking Funchal and the sea. What made this stay so amazing were all the details Luiz gave us with recommandations, maps, bus routes and so on. The bungalow was very comfortable with everything we needed. There is a bus stop close by and a supermarket as well.
Luiz was such a helpful host, always available to assist. Thank you! From Eoghan and Gené
Two pools, one near sea and access to the water. Restaurant fine with standard Madeiran cuisine. Western edge of hotel district and access to plenty of restaurants within 20 minutes walk and good location generally. Charming setting and gardens give a character set apart from the many soulless mega hotels in western Funchal. Generally friendly staff. Very good value for money, was half the price of similar options at the time of booking
Amazing location in central Funchal, about 10 minutes’ walk to just about any restaurant, shop, dock, or cable car. Free off-street parking in a gated/secure lot around back. Very spacious apartment with fully equipped kitchen and washing machine. Everything was spotless. It’s hard to believe how wonderful everything was, especially for the price. If we come back to Madeira, we’ll definitely check to see if they have availability!
The hotel and its facilities are great and very clean. We enjoyed our time in the outdoor and indoor pools and squash court. The room was clean and spacious and the location was great with many very good restaurants in short walking distance. The downtown area was a 15-20 min walk or a quick bus ride which stops right outside the hotel. We loved our time in Madeira and would consider coming back to stay at this hotel again.
It is at a great location, walkable distance from the city centre but also not too busy. We like the sea view of the room very much. The room is clean and big. The breakfast is amazing with great variety of choices! Facilities are great too. Hotel staff is very friendly and they gave my husband a flower for his birthday. If we will come back to Madeira, we would like to stay here again if the standard can be maintained.
Everything was superb.
We stayed 9 nights and Dalia and Maria made our stay perfect.
The apartment is modern and functional, with balcony viewing the sea, the area is full of amenities and buzzing in the evening.
Just a pleasant 30 min walk from the centre of Funchal made for us the most strategic place to stay in Madeira.
Would definitely consider to stay there again next time
Lovely clean hotel, we had a beautiful view from our room. All staff are very friendly, especially Liliana the Restaurant Manager. Everything is very clean, the pool is great and it's located in Madeira's prime location, easy access to Funchal Centre. There is a Shopping Centre with a supermarket just 2 mins walk away and great restaurants nearby. Will definitely return.
Moradia Vista Atlântico’s owners were probably one of the most hospitable people ever. Their place is clean, comfortable and simply amazing. Ending the night in their little spa was the perfect way to relax after a long day. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Madeira, I highly recommend it.
Thank you again for everything!!
The apt is bright, clean, comfortable and quiet. Lynn is one of the best people I have ever met. Went out of her way several times to help a severely jetlagged woman who lost her luggage and left behind her coats. Thanks again.Hope we meet again. You know I will always stay at your place if I am in Madeira again.
Loved the location. Came to Madeira to run and hike, so the hotel was conveniently situated to get local buses or walk into Funchal.
The weather was so good we didnt use the facilities the hotel offered as we were out exploring.
Initial problem with our room but the staff went out of their way to deal with it.
Location was great in a building nextdoor to Forum Madeira shopping center. Large (by Madeira standards) Pingo Doce supermarket was on the lower floor. Location was well connected to the airport and center of Funchal by bus. Apartment had included parking. Basic cooking equipment was there
It was perfect! Location was awesome, and the room was awesome too.
The host does it all with a smile on her face. She helped us rent a car, helped us with navigation - showing the best spots in Madeira… and even booked our dolphins trip.
highly recommend.
The property was really lovely clean the views from the property were amazing the breakfast and drinks was lovely too. Also the staff were really nice and friendly as well overall amazing modern hotel in Funchal Madeira.
