The Vasco da Gama Bridge which was completed in 1998 to conincide with Expo '98.
It spans the River Tejo and is the longest bridge in Europe at over 17Km. It was built to aleviate some of the congestion from the existing 25th Abril bridge.
The Cable-stayed construction was designed to withstand an earthquake more powerful than that of 1755
