Arco da Rua Augusta - Lisbon

The Arco Triunfal da Rua Augusta leading from Praca do Comercio to the Baixa's main, pedestrianised street. The arch was built to commemorate the city's rebuilding following the 1755 earthquake. The figures on the arch include Vasco da Gama and the Marques de Pombal, who was responsible for planning the Biaxa we see today.
