Very near Belmonte, where Pedro Álvares Cabral was born, the Belmonte Pousada is the result of the reconstruction of the ruined Convent of Nossa Senhora da Esperança, with the small 13th century chapel. The Belmonte Pousada has preserved all the historic architecture of the Convent, including the amphitheatre in the woodlands.
